“The Campfield apple tree is an old variety recommended by Cox for cider. The Campfield cider apple tree was noted in the 18th century, often mixed with Harrison apple for the highest quality product. William Coxe described the cider as “strong and highly flavored” in his 1817 treatise on apples. The Campfield apple tree is a large and spreading when mature. The Campfield apple is medium to large, yellow, often blushed with red. Sweet flesh. The Campfield apple ripens late and a good keeper. The Campfield apple tree is cold hardy.
