Pick, Freeze, Dry

The string beans are still yielding, but less so than previous harvests. Still, I had a few bags in the fridge that needed processing. It's my first year freezing beans. Blanching them in the heat of an unconditioned apartment kitchen - that discomfort will make the memories stick!

The cherry tomatoes are just starting turn color as well. Beautiful, bright reds, and calm yellows, even a few deep purples are all making their appearance on my kitchen platter.

I've just invested in my first dehydrator, and anticipate making some sun-dried tomatoes this week. That is, as long as the week doesn't escape me as it often does. Will report how that goes!

For now, I'll keep munching on the tangy bursts of life, and try to keep up the bounty this new land provides us.
